Migrants bear the brunt of the ongoing militarisation of the European borders. While Fortress Europe heightens its walls, refugees drown in the Mediterranean, get stuck in dire circumstances or end up in detention and being deported. The military and security industry reaps the benefits of the racist border policies of the EU.
Airbus is the second largest European arms producer. It sells aircraft and missiles to countries at war, repressive regimes and human rights abusers. This way it fuels the reasons that force people to flee their homes. Airbus again profits by providing EU with border security equipment to stop refugees. It is a key player in the successful industrial lobby for the militarisation of Europe’s borders.
Airbus’ headquarters are in The Netherlands (Leiden). Every year they hold their Annual General Meeting for shareholders at the Hotel Okura in Amsterdam. They celebrate the rising numbers of their profitable deadly business but they fail to mention the rising number of deaths in the Mediterranean, Middle-East and Africa where their products are being used. We take this opportunity to give Airbus a taste of the consequences of their actions. Bring a white sheet for the die-in part of the action.
Thursday April 28 april 2016 Somalian activist Ahmed Aden of refugee group ‘We Are Here’ spoke at the Okura Hotel in Amsterdam, to protest, along with dozens of peace activists, the shareholders meeting of arms producer Airbus.

Migranten zijn de dupe van de voortgaandemilitarisering van de Europese grenzen. Terwijl Fort Europa de muren verhoogt, verdrinken vluchtelingen in de Middellandse Zee, komen vast te zitten in erbarmelijke omstandigheden of eindigen in detentie en worden gedeporteerd. De militaire en veiligheidsindustrie plukt de vruchten van het racistische
grensbeleid van de EU.
Airbus is de op een na grootste Europese wapenproducent. Het verkoopt vliegtuigen en raketten aanlanden in oorlog, repressieve regimes en mensenrechtenschenders. Daarmee voedt het de oorzaken die mensen dwingen te vluchten. Airbus profiteert opnieuw door de EU grensbeveiligingsmaterieelte leverenom vluchtelingen tegen te houden. Het is een belangrijke speler in de succesvolle industriële lobby voor de militarisering van de Europese grenzen.
Het hoofdkantoor van Airbus bevindt zich in Nederland (Leiden). Elk jaar houdt het bedrijf haar jaarlijkse algemene aandeelhoudersvergadering in Hotel Okura in Amsterdam. Ze vieren de winst van hun dodelijke zaken, maar ze vermelden niet het stijgende aantal sterfgevallen in de Middellandse Zee, het Midden-Oosten en Afrika waar hun producten worden gebruikt.
We maken van de gelegenheid gebruik om Airbus de gevolgen van hun acties onder ogen te laten zien. Neem een wit laken mee voor de doodligactie.
Donderdag 28 april 2016 sprak de somalische activist Ahmed Aden van de vluchtelingengroep ‘wij zijn hier’ bij het okura hotel in Amsterdam, om samen met tientallen vredesactivisten van organisatie stop wapenhandel te protesteren tegen de aandeelhoudersvergadering die de wapenfabrikant airbus daar hield.

ايرباص هي ثاني أكبر منتج للأسلحة في أوروبا. وهي تبيع الطائرات والصواريخ إلى بلدان في حالة حرب وأنظمة قمعية ومسيئين لحقوق الإنسان. بهذه الطريقة يغذي الأسباب التي تجبر الناس على الفرار من ديارهم. ايرباص مرة أخرى الأرباح من خلال تزويد الاتحاد الأوروبي مع معدات أمن الحدود لوقف اللاجئين. إنه لاعب رئيسي في اللوبي الصناعي الناجح من أجل عسكرة الحدود الأوروبية.
